Lawrenceville’s indie movie theater, Row House Cinema, will reopen Sept. 3 after an 18-month, pandemic-driven closure. Membership codes can only be used on showtimes that are priced as general admission (which is roughly 95% of our showtimes). What is the difference between the Sustaining and the Annual membership? The Sustaining membership allows members to break the payments up into monthly increments that are automatically billed. The community thrives on improvisation and interaction. One of the most important parts of any “Rocky Horror” screening is the “callbacks,” or the responses to certain lines, scenes and characters that audience members yell at the screen throughout the film. Callbacks are outrageous and ever-evolving, and they allow the audience to play off each other and build new traditions.
Recent weekly themes have included Denzel Washington, Japanese films, Jean-Luc Godard, Sci-Fi, and stop-motion animation, just to name a few. One cool feature is that if you're really into a certain theme, you can buy a weekly pass for $21 and go see as many films as you like- something we're definitely planning on doing in the future. One of the great things about Row House Cinema is the variety of movies they show during their weekly movie themes as their library is more than your typical art house theater. Following the member thank-you events, the theater will hold a three-week soft opening before a grand reopening event on Sept. 25. That sold-out gala will include a screening of “Pulp Fiction,” the first movie shown in the theater at 4115 Butler St. It’s a discounted membership that you can share with your partner, spouse, bff, mom, favorite barista or whoever you like to see movies with.

The theater itself is rather small and the one downside we found is that there is only one aisle so everyone has to enter each row from the same side. This makes it somewhat tricky if you have to get up in the middle of the movie to go to the restroom or get another beer. During the soft opening, there will be fewer show times than usual and some service reductions while the theater gears up. When it came to making bad movies, Ed Wood was the best.
